Only 1.5 hours from Syracuse, 3 hours from Rochester, and 5 hours from New York City, it is a reasonable destination for almost anyone. Whispering Pines is located only one mile away from Brantingham Lake on Pleasant Lake. Pleasant Lake is the small, round body of water between North Shore Road and Brantingham Road.
Due to its prime location, Whispering Pines offers a wide variety of activities for family and friends to enjoy. Whether you look forward to the changing colors of leaves, laying on the beach under the sun, or exploring the snowy trails, Camp is an intriguing spot to be in any season. It is simply impossible not to have a great time. Some fun activities and nearby destinations that may interest you include but are not limited to:
- Pleasant Lake - Only steps away from Whispering Pines is Pleasant Lake. Pleasant Lake is spring-fed and one of the cleanest bodies of water you will ever swim in because there are no oil products allowed on the lake. Swim in the water, fish from one of our two docks, or use the paddle boat, canoe, or kayak. The choice is yours.
- Private beach - On your way to Pleasant Lake, you will obviously notice our private sand beach. This beautiful beach is shared with only three other camps in the Shepherds Woods Association. Here you can lay out and soak up the sun all day or build sandcastles with the children.
- Brantingham Lake - Right next door to Pleasant Lake is its neighbor, Brantingham Lake. There is a public boat launch less than one mile away where you can enter the water and take your boat or jetski out for the day.
- Otter Creek Rapids - A hidden secret only 15 minutes away, Otter Creek is full of rapids that flow directly from the mountaintops. Bring the camera to snap gorgeous pictures and wear your swimsuit in case you decide to go down the rapids on your bottom with the locals.
- Old Forge - Old Forge is one of the most delightful towns in the Adirondacks. Less than an hour away, spend the day visiting quaint shops down its historic main street or take the kids to Enchanted Forest Water Safari. Either way, the fun will surely never stop.
- Extensive trails - Whispering Pines is located directly in the cross-section of an extensive network of trails. Avid hikers and snowmobilers often meet up at the Pine Tree less than one minute away. Bring your sense of adventure and experience the great outdoors.
- Golf Courses - There are numerous golf courses in the area such as Brantingham Golf Club (5 minutes), Turin Highlands Golf Course (15 minutes), Thendara Golf Club (45 minutes), Inlet Golf Club (1 hour), etc.
- Ski Resorts - Snow Ridge Ski Resort, with “the East’s heaviest snowfall,” is only 15 minutes away.
